Prosperity

We invest our time and resources in programs and initiatives that support the communities where we operate and where our employees live and work. Through these efforts, we strengthen relationships and promote mutually beneficial outcomes.

Our approach to Prosperity focuses on strengthening local economies through local hiring, investments in operations and infrastructure, and contributions to organizations that support community development.

Community engagement is a key component of this approach, helping us understand local priorities and build collaborative relationships. As part of this approach, Oxy seeks to be a partner of choice in the communities and regions where we operate, supporting long-term economic and social development.

Community Engagement

Oxy’s employees and contractors and their families live and work in the areas in which we operate. Therefore, we take pride in playing an active role in engaging with local residents, governments, regulators, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and other community stakeholders. Their input provides valuable insight into local needs and interests, ways we can augment our projects by addressing their questions and concerns and how our presence can enhance the community. An overview of relevant stakeholder groups and engagement approaches is provided in the Stakeholder Engagement table.

It is important to us that neighbors, community leaders, and local governments are informed and have the opportunity to provide input regarding our operations and development plans. Our teams works both in the field and in our offices to build relationships, solicit input and maintain proactive communication with communities.

Before, during and after a significant project, we provide transparency and open lines of communication by engaging with stakeholders on their terms, translating information into multiple languages as applicable, offering accessible contact methods and being responsive to outreach. This approach helps us better understand community priorities and concerns and collaborate in ways that enhance our projects while supporting community participation.

We actively listen and respond to community feedback through a range of engagement channels, including direct conversations, digital updates and community meetings. Oxy maintains structured feedback mechanism, including our community response line, email channels and web-based contact platforms, to capture and track inquiries and concerns and support documented follow-up and resolution. This approach supports timely, meaningful and accessible engagement aligned with our core values.

We consider community input in our decision-making processes, including project siting, design and operations, with the aim of supporting responsible development and long-term community outcomes.

Social Investments

Oxy’s dedication to community and social investment is aimed at strengthening economic and social well-being, particularly for those most in need. Operating under the core value of Commit to Good, Oxy is proud to support the social initiatives of our partners as well as the volunteer efforts of our employees. Through local partnerships, charitable initiatives, and organizational support, we aim to promote sustainable human development in the communities where we operate.

We strive to benefit communities where our team members build lives, raise families, and make lasting bonds with their neighbors. Our social investment programs are tailored to the unique contexts of the regions in which we operate, while concentrating our efforts across seven key areas:

  • Health and Safety

Community Investment and Engagement Abroad

Oxy considers the communities where we operate as our partners, and we are dedicated to maintaining open communication and supporting sustainable development.

Oxy completed Green Walk Park in Muscat, Oman in 2024. This is Muscats first linear park, designed to enhance urban sustainability and provide safe, accessible recreational spaces for the surrounding community. Spanning more than 150,000 square meters, the park features a 3-kilometer walkway and bike lane, playgrounds, outdoor gyms and multipurpose courts, creating a vibrant space for the approximately 250,000 residents living nearby. Developed using native plant species adapted to Oman’s climate and supported by water-efficient irrigation systems, the park contributes to improved air quality, moderated urban temperatures and the creation of habitats for birds and pollinators. By providing shared public spaces for recreation, social interaction and environmental awareness, Green Walk Park reflects Oxy’s approach to strengthening community wellbeing while supporting sustainable urban development.

In Abu Dhabi in the UAE, Oxy contributes to the Emirates Foundation, a philanthropic organization established by the government to facilitate public-private partnerships for empowering youth. Our partnership with the Emirates Foundation dates to its establishment in 2005, with Oxy being one of the organization’s top contributors. Oxy’s continued involvement has focused on volunteerism initiatives, as well as providing support for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) initiatives in the UAE to facilitate youth-driven innovation.
